	US CIVIL WAR SKETCHES Eye-witness sketches made during the U.S. Civil War mainly by Alfred R. Waud. Writing by the artist can also be seen on most of the sketches. Alfred was one of only two artists present at the Battle of Gettysburg. His depiction of Pickett's Charge is thought to be the only visual account by an eyewitness. 	EGYPT & NUBIA In 1838 and 1839, David Roberts spent eleven months traveling and sketching throughout Egypt from Alexandria to Abu Simbel and through Sinai to Petra, Jerusalem, Palestine, and Lebanon. The lithographs that Belgian engraver Louis Haghe then produced at the rate of one a month from the drawings executed during Roberts� trip were published in six volumes as �The Holy Land, Syria, Idumea, Arabia, Egypt and Nubia� (1842-1846) and �Egypt and Nubia� (1846-1849).
